Language is the niche to which I hope to contribute over my daygame career. More specifically, multilingual daygame: how to leverage multiple languages to increase attraction and comfort.

Besides (non-native) English, I’m fluent in (native) Russian and (non-native) German. I estimate that in a third of my sets where I reach hook point, I use more than one language.

Although I’m still learning the daygame fundamentals, there are a number of observations that I’ve seen repeating over the nearly 800 sets I’ve done. This text is an early flesh-out of some of my ideas. It’s by no means a conclusive theory. Over the years, I hope to distill my accumulated insights into a practical framework.

Attraction: open and stack in English

After much experimentation, I nowadays default to opening in English. The only exception is when a girl is clearly a native speaker of my native language1. Even when my language level in German is very good, opening in German, in my experience, yields bad results. I think this is for the following reasons:

  1. No dominance: her language level is higher than mine, so she can dance circles around me. If you have good English, unless you are opening native speakers, your English level is nearly always superior: the girl is struggling with something that comes easy to you and falls into your frame.
  2. Too supplicating: it feels like I’m trying too hard to impress her, so I’m falling into her frame.
  3. Too difficult: stacking is hard enough as it is; doing it properly in a foreign language is too difficult. I’ve had plenty of sets where the girl literally didn’t get what I was saying.
  4. Political risk (rare): a tiny number of Ukrainian sets resulted in instant blowouts with a “Slava Ukraini” to boot, after opening in Russian (ouch). Most Ukrainians don’t care, though.

Currently, the only area where I think knowing her native language makes you more attractive is K-selected daygame: the cultural fit makes you better boyfriend material. I’m focusing exclusively on learning to be r-selected, so this isn’t an area I’m likely going to explore further anytime soon.

Comfort: investment in her native language

Rapidly building comfort is where a second language really shines, in my experience. Sometimes the girl doesn’t speak any English at all2. Even if she does, I found that after the initial attraction phase, revealing that I speak her language always gives me a good response.

There could be many reasons for this:

  1. There’s a strong cultural connection (after all, you’re clearly invested in her culture).
  2. She’s more comfortable speaking her native language and doesn’t have to fear making mistakes in English. As a result, she talks more.
  3. You’re showing some genuine vulnerability by struggling in her native language and risking making silly mistakes.

Spiking is an interesting exception for generating attraction in her native language. It’s easier than stacking and vibing because spikes are shorter and can even be completely non-verbal (e.g., playfully glancing at her tits)3.

Conclusion

Based on my experience, I nowadays follow this language script:

  1. Open native speakers, whose language I speak natively, in their native language (no language switch).
  2. Open native speakers, whose language I speak fluently but not natively, in English. Run attraction (stacking and vibing) completely in English. Reveal I speak their native language (“Du bist Deutsche, oder?”) in the investment phase. Once you commit to her language, there’s no going back4.

So far, at least on the surface, this mixed approach seems to yield better results than my strictly English sets:

  • I get sudden hook points after the girl initially decides to bail.
  • Girls are talking more during investment.

At the end of the day, I believe both your mastery and lack of her language can be used to your advantage.

  1. As a native speaker, it’s extremely uncalibrated to engage another native speaker of your language in English: if you’re French, don’t open girls in English when you’re daygaming in Paris. ↩︎

  2. Competent players can still get the girl through good non-verbals, but you’re still running a marathon with a weighted vest. ↩︎

  3. In some sets, I managed to pull off a deliberate misunderstanding of some of her words, interpreting them as something sexual, cheekily blaming it on my “lack of language proficiency.” ↩︎

  4. I feel I get punished for bringing up the language, then backpedaling into English. It’s essentially bragging without backing it up. ↩︎
